    About David Dessler

    Experienced Political Science Academic

    A former tenured professor with the Department of Government at the College of William & Mary (W&M), David Dessler holds a PhD in government/international studies from The Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, DC. His areas of scholarly expertise range from modern political economy to the history of international politics. In 2013, David Dessler’s W&M colleagues elected him president of the Faculty Assembly. He has also received multiple honors for his work as a college instructor, including the W&M Thomas Jefferson Teaching Award and a place on The Princeton Review’s list of the “The Best 300 Professors” of 2012.

    Over the course of his decades-long career, Mr. Dessler has researched and written on a variety of subjects related to government and political science. His articles have appeared in numerous peer-reviewed academic journals. One of David Dessler’s most widely cited articles, “Beyond Correlations: Toward a Causal Theory of War,” was published in International Studies Quarterly in September of 1991.
